Vigilance Department in Air India (IC) has been functioning since
1969, primarily for initiating appropriate steps for curbing corruption
and malpractice in the organization. An IPS Officer of the rank
of Inspector General of Police on deputation, is heading the Department
and designated as Chief Vigilance Officer(CVO). Vigilance Department
diversified its activities and a full-fledged Fraud Prevention Unit
was created in March 2000 under the direct control of CVO to deal
with cases of ticket fraud, smuggling and other specialized crimes
committed against Air India (IC).

Chief Vigilance Officer is assisted by a General Manager (Vigilance)
at Headquarters and two officers of the level of Manager/Deputy
Manager (Vigilance). Vigilance Units in the regions are headed by
Senior Manager/Manager and located at Chennai, Delhi, Kolkata &
Mumbai.

the corruption prone areas and suggest remedial measures

of the Action Plan on anti-corruption measures. Organize and
conduct surprise checks in sensitive & corruption prone areas

issued by the Central Vigilance Commission (http://cvc.nic.in)

Ticket Fraud - Manager, Revenue Protection Services
- IATA (International Air Transport Association, Geneva) in
his preface described the publication as an essential tool
for detection of airline ticket fraud. Details of IATA Standard
Traffic Documents, their mandatory security features and photographs
of fraudulent documents with profile points, have been covered
to aid the front line staff in detecting fraudulent traffic
documents.

Central Vigilance Commission vide instructions dated 29th June 1999
directed that no action should at all be taken on any anonymous
or pseudonymous complaint. Complainants are, therefore, requested
